Some sort of party is always held immediately following the wedding rehearsal, on the day before the big event. Originally held to make enough racket to scare away evil spirits, the rehearsal dinner is a time for the couple, immediate families, attendants, ushers and their spouses, clergyman and any out of town guest or gather for an intimate celebration and a final breather before the wedding.
Customarily, this party is hosted and paid for by the bridegroom's parents. They usually take this time to toast the bride and bridegroom and thank the bride's family.
