An elaborate wedding cake has long been part of the established wedding tradition. It pays to shop around for bakers because prices can vary widely. Some experienced cake makers work out of their home and usually charge less. Even the bakery section at some large supermarkets will make a lovely wedding cake for a good price.
Before placing your order, decide what you want the cake to look like.
- How large and how many layers? Do you have a photo of one you really like?
- What type, flavor, and icing do you prefer?
- Take swatches of your colors if you want colored cake decorations to coordinate.
- Do you want to have a decorative topper on the cakes? Will you give it to the maker or use one they supply?
- Will the cake be decorated with flowers, ribbons, or other ornaments? Who should order them?
